We are currently open to new permanent residents in our community. Be aware that we are still quite new (founded in January 2024), so check out our blog for the latest updates. It would be best (or even optimal) if you came first for a 3-day or 10- day residential retreat intensive, however that program is still being developed. If it’s of interest please contact us
Permanent Residency Process
The permanent residency process starts by you coming for a month-long residential trial experience. You will attend our 4-week, 8 hour course/experience Practical Relational Leadership through Authentic Relating with the other residents and/or members of our extended community in Ajijic, do 1-on-1’s with the other residents, have a weekly check-in / coaching session with your community mentor here, participate in tours of the surrounding area, and explore the culture fit between you, life in Mexico in general, and life in Ajijic / Chapala in particular.
If, at the end your trial experience, you want to stay, the proposal will be put to a vote by the other community members. If there is unanimity, you may join us as for an additional 60-day trial residency. After 90 days have passed, if there is no objection, you are in.
The cost of your first-month trial residency will be about $150-$250 higher than your ongoing monthly dues, as you will be getting a lot of attention from us, along with introductions and experiences in the local community.
We will also ask you, as part of your first-month trial, to design and execute some kind of community-service project, either for the commune or for our outside community. This could be as simple as cooking a meal for us or organizing a party.
For further information and to schedule a discovery call, see How to apply.
Long-term governance process
Currently, our governance structure is very loose. Marco makes all the decisions in consultation with other community members. Later and as we grow, we will probably adopt Sociocracy as our governance model. Sociocracy and Authentic Relating go hand-in-hand.
